Make no doubt about it, eBay is changing. Most big companies change in bits and pieces every so often. But OUR eBay is changing dramatically and quickly. The 'new eBay' is going after the mega seller. The sellers who write the big checks each month...monthly checks that are larger than most of us smaller sellers will pay eBay in our careers. Big sellers that run fixed priced auctions of merchandise that they cannot sell in brick and mortars stores or they do not wish to list on their own websites anymore because the merchandise is just moving too slow. Big sellers that buy 'boat load' lots of like wholesale items and then list them on eBay. Big sellers like GM that is about to announce that they will be selling NEW cars on eBay. Most close watchers think eBay is trying to displace Amazon as the leader in these fixed price type sales. Of course eBay will continue to go after the 'celebrity' type auction of very rare and museum quality items. Those pay big and garner large amounts of free advertising. And eBay will continue to sell real estate and autos...big ticket items that bring in big commissions. The unanswered question is 'What is eBay going to do for the small auction type seller?'. Many of those (us) feel the 2008 changes eBay made were made with benefiting the 'big sellers' in mind. Many small sellers felt pushed. Will eBay change that with the next round of changes? or will the small auction seller feel pushed even harder?
