I sell books on Half.com and on another major site. I just had a situation on the other site where a customer left bad feedback for me without emailing me first to tell me what happened. I emailed her and found there had been a mistake. I immediately paid her back for the book, paid the mailing charges, and let her keep it. She was very nice and removed the feedback. I considered this experience to be pleasant and both helpful to me and my customer even though I lost a bit of money. I would rather satisfy my customer and not get bad feedback which could hurt me a lot more than losing a few dollars on a transaction. This is the way selling works in the real world. Can you imagine if a major brick and mortar store had a permanent feedback sign on the front? They'd be out of business in a week! I think Ebay should have a way for a customer to remove feedback if he or she has a problem taken care of and is satisfied. This would solve part of the feedback problems.

I listed an auction item, at a fixed price of $12.75, a video and it sold, and Greedbay has proceeded to charge me a 15% final value fee. I sent to the Greedbay site where they list the final value fees for the different categories, and unless I am completely blind, stupid and incompetent, I read the fvf as 8.75%. Of course I emailed greedbay for an e xplanation, and their response requires an attorney to decipher same. Thanks to one and all for any input or output as the case may be. MooooN.|

I am fairly new to ebay, and was enjoying myself quite a bit, now they are not accepting money orders. I need help. As an avid garage saler I always loved the hunt for a great find. But when it came time to clean out my mother's apartment I could not find the heart to haggle over her stuff. Except for a few items that the family kept everything went to a local charity. We took before and after pictures of her place as a keepsake. Greedbay is now cutting 1600 more what they call unnecessary jobs but is buying Bill Me Later....make sense to anyone out there? Guess they are not filling their coffers fast enough even with all the increases placed on strategic categories such as video sales, with final value fees of 15% and up. Nothing like selling a video for 12.75, including shipping, and getting charged 15%, take the listing fee and the FeePal fee, boy, perhaps I made a whopping $2.00 profit. Thank goodness for other sites, cause Greedbay is quickly cutting its nose off to spite its face...it truely does not care one #$%W$#(whit what it is doing to medium to small sellers. Apparently, the head honchos still are bending over with their heads up their butts and refuse to see the writing on the wall..Also, just fyi, Greedbay's trying to limit payment of items in Australia to just FeePal and ccards did NOT fly there....the Australian courts ruled AGAINST Greedbay....one for the Aussies down under.

It is really unfortunate that Ebay finds it necessary to dictate to sellers how they should be paid. As of late October, Ebay will not allow sellers to allow payments to them (in exchange for their own property!) to be made via check or money order. This is, I believe, an example of a sad "big brother" aiititude. How does this constraint on sellers' activities help sellers? Shouldn't sellers be allowed to decide for themselves how they want to be paid? Perhaps this is just another scheme for compiling databases on buyers' activities via the tracking of electronic payment activity. Credit card companies do this all the time, by monitoring the nature of folks' credit card purchases. (This allows "targeted" marketing--and more "junkmail".) Do you have a problem with government "surveillance" activities? I would be just as worried about Ebay surveillance activities.

I had a buyer leave me negative feedback because he did not read the ad. The ad was clear about what I was selling. He won the auction, I sent the item fast and he left bad feedback. He wrote and said sorry I guess I can't read. But hay now I have negative feedback and Ebay will not do anything about it. They say ole well live with it. Feed back is useless then. I can't leave bad feedback for the seller to say he can't read. Please someone tell me how this is going to work?? That means sellers can say drop you pants or I am leaving bad feedback and the buyers are helpless.

Ebay yanked one of my auctions because I commited the mortal sin of putting the words "like new" in the friggin' title. I did it because ebay had a drop box on the listing the auction page where you could chose "like new" and also under advanced search you can click on a "like new" link to find auctions that are listed as "like new". What a joke. They have "like new" everywhere, but if I put it in my title I get an alert and the auction is yanked.

Question Regarding Hold On PayPal Funds
Can anyone tell me what determines whether or not a seller's funds will be held by PayPal? My son (against my advice) continues to sell one or two items a month but has not had any holds put on his funds in his PayPal account. My sister (who never bothered to ask my advice) *note snarky tone* just sold about 20 CD's over the weekend. All the payments from buyers were put on hold. Hello everyone. I have recently sold a Fendi bag to someone who is making people's lives miserable. Apparently she is very much into negative feedbacks and not reading the listings properly. She ignores the sold as is and no refund clause and does whatever she wants. She opens disputes, and Ebay is gong along with her. I recently discovered an entire blog about her and posted my reply as well, but it was REMOVED. So dear Ebay, this is Good Bye. Getting fed up with constant changes...........
As a buyer I am growing tired of logging in and opening up some of my favorite searches only to be welcomed to 'the new eBay motors'. I think the 'new eBay motors' page sucks in its execution. Not to mention that now my search query is all screwed up and with the 'new eBay motors' I can no longer sort my search by lowest year first. (Before anyone chimes in, I have already found the 'return to old eBay motors' link) My question is this, if it ain't broke eBay, why do you keep 'fixing' it. I know, I know, there have been thousands of similar posts on the same subject but I have finally gotten to the point of frustrtation where I needed to add my own two cents! It took me a long time to set up and refine my 'favorite searches' and I get mad as hell when I click on one and get redirected to a new page. I don't want to waste too much of my time here so I'll just say this and go.....up until Nov. 2006 I used to sell here on the bay as well, but with the constant changes and rate fee hikes I gave it up. Now with the still constant bombardment of ever stupid changes to what used to be a pretty awesome site, I am real close to resigning as a bidder as well.

Help! Nightmare buyer Do I have no recourse?
Okay, this is the first time it has happened and I am hoping someone can help. I sold a authentic item to a buyer in the UK. He didn't like it allthough it was exactly as described and filed a claim with PayPal. Paypal awarded a refund to the buyer, wrongly in my opinion. As a condition of the refund he has to return the product. He sends a box filled with styrofoam and cardboard instead, this way he can show Paypal that he did indeed send a package to me. So, he has the money for the item and the item. PayPal is of no help. He committed fraud when he sent the package and lied on the customs form. He lied to Paypal,Ebay and me. What can I do? I can't leave Negative feedback because he is a buyer, and PayPal is a dead horse. I mean can I do anything legally for an item that sold for $32.97, and is in the UK?

Who else can provide such a direct statement, easy enough to translate into business math? However, if your change is going to upset a balance which you've created, and it could ultimately lead in a large decline of the amount of income sales in the companies growing underneath you that you've helped start, would you not be interested to hear the voice of the public's opinion before deciding to give in to your own company's economic guidelines? Who is making these decisions? I believe your making a mistake... Your company has recently decided that there will be a limit on the shipping cost for video games. The price change will take place this October. The maximum price for shipping that is allowed to be charged is limited to $4. A limit... on shipping? And it's limited to ONLY $4 for the public? Why is there this limit? Even if E-bay makes the .15 cents on the .01 cent listing fee, and makes out with 8.25% on the FINAL sales price, This amount off that many users is still not sufficient enough for the company's cost-effectiveness to keep moving forward? But what you are asking from the public is e-market tyranny! Please, listen to what I have to say. I believe that this is stealing the sale... The cost of shipping for a small lot of eight NES (weighs 1.8lbs) sells for about $20. Shipped by USPS, via PARCEL LARGE PACKAGE, the cost comes to $17.59! The SMALLEST package/envelope option STILL costs over what we're allowed to ask for at $5.53!! That means I am paying $1.53 EXTRA to ebay to cover expensive shipping and paypal costs. To the best of my knowledge, the lowest price you can get from Paypal is $4.73 (the best I've ever seen online) for a shipping label. It is actually a LOT more profitable to sell locally! This is going to actually RAISE the price of the market with all of these games, forcing the public to not even be interested in the prices the sellers are asking. They may find them elsewhere online or somewhere locally that is cheaper. I am sure I am not the only one that is going to suffer the fate of a new business from this absurd policy change. "I have to admit, these games are really old. People don't want to pay much for them because you can find them online, legally, for free... Yes, some of them are collector's items but some others don't really spark an interest to the general public.... Some of these games sell for such low prices [on e-bay] that I think I am just better off to just sell them around town locally. Ebay new page design is AWFUL- Let's not accept this change!
I am hoping that everyone who is unhappy with the new page that ebay is introducing, will write them and let them know how horrible it will be for sales.If you have not seen it yet, go to one of your listings and at the top right side of the page you will see a link to "switch to the new version of this page" The only one good thing is the initial picture is larger. The bad things are as follows. #1 The viewer will not see meet the seller unless they scroll down, which means they will not see the link for your other items, your ebay store, the link for adding you as a favorite, or that you are a trusted power seller, unless they scroll further down. #2 The viewer can not tell if you ship worldwide, unless they scroll down or hit a link for more shipping info. #3 The viewer can not see the store categories next to your listing description unless they scroll down AND hit a link that says MORE. #4 That MORE link does not give all the categories ( we had ours listed alphabetically for ease of use to our buyers) the MORE link does not! Lets fight to keep the page as it currently is. Please look at the new page they are trying to pass off as a change for the better! The new page is not going to help anyone sell more items. What a joke eBay is anymore!!! I started when it only had 9000 members. It was so great over the years. They must have someone who does not know what they are doing running it now. Warn all your customers not to use the eBay beta! In the category I sell in (Classical Cds) there is a discrepancy of well over 1000 items that show in the old version but are not posted in the BETA! After buying and selling for over 6 years, I have had my fill of Ebay. The cost to sell, in particular, (including the use of Paypal) has escalated to more than 12% per sale (and up to 20% for >$20 sales). I just sold items totaling about $286 (all over $40 each) in final value and the total Ebay/Paypal cost was $34 (12%). The fees that include the shipping charges are particularly onerous. This is what you get with a monopoly-price gouging. The new change to feedback (no neutrals/negatives for rogue buyers) is ridiculous. The requirement to add a shipping calculator is also ridiculous. Now I have to add an additional handling fee or inflate the shipping weight to all sales to keep the total Ebay costs below 20% . Anyway, I will be outta here by the end of this year!!!

Auction Buyer Responsibilities?
I guess I am really becoming disillusioned with the whole online auction thing. For the second time now I have a buyer who deals out a whole list of excuses as to why he can not/will not go ahead with his purchase on an item he won at auction. Ebay posts this nice little statement about the auctions being a binding contract and both parties are responsible for carrying out their commitments. I understand that in reality Ebay can only do so much when one party does not follow through, but ....... it appears these buyers will only get a little slap on the wrist and can continue to function on Ebay after showing they are unreliable and not trustworthy. Someone explain to me why these people are not "Banned" from participation on Ebay after not following through with their commitments.

Hello everyone. I've been selling for 6 years and made power seller status. A few months ago I started selling imformation about how to hook up your 360 game console without the pricey adapter. 95% of the buyers were happy but the others left negative which resulted in my suspension. I delievered exactly what was in my listings. Of course the game market is a younger crowd and some people had problems configuring their computer. This was a 100 dollar savings for the people who bought my imformation link showing how to do it. The people who complained got their money back and still left negative feedback. I've emailed 30 or more times for support and usually just get an answer from an auto bot. Ebay pulled all my listings and never refunded me anything. I had land listed and also have sold vehicles in the past and generated some pretty good numbers. How is this fair when I have never tried to scam anyone? Paypal even ruled a few complaints in my favor. I'm really confused and frustrated after working so hard to keep my buyers happy over the years. I sure would like some answers. If it was not legal to sell imformation then my listings should have been pulled. Instead they let me sell them for a couple of months and gladly took my listing and selling fees. Then when you get a few negatives they put you out in left field and tell me to get my feedback fixed. Those that complained got their money back. I've asked for feedback removal with no luck. So the buyers got the imformation free and I actually wind up paying to give it to them! Should I leave never to return? They tell me I'm suspended indefinetly. I cann't sell anything to generate more positive feedback. If I didn't have 6 years invested I wouldn't worry about it much. Now I have thousands of dollars in video games sitting doing nothing but collecting dust. I think it's totally unfair but of couse it's my own opinion. I thought I was doing a big favour showing my customers how to save a 100 dollars. Instead I get the shaft from ebay. I'ld gladly take any advice from anyone whether your comments are supportive or not. Have a great day everyone. Frustrated in Canada.

This was the worst concept some joker at ebay thought up Before sellers could equally leave neg. feedback on a buyer. Now only buyers can leave negative feedback. So buyers can use it as a threat for free merchandise. I am getting ripped off by people who want extra free stuff or else (neg. feedback) They have nothing to loose because we cannot leave them neg. feedback in return. This is very unfair. it leaves sellers at high risk. Not a genius to figure this out. I have contacted them directly to appeal this. it must be a problem to others - pls add to this discussion. thanks

Ebay just announced another change - First we had Neutral Feedback counted as a Negative ( Ebay changed that - I guess they looked up the word neutral in dictionary ) Now sellers and buyers are able to agree to change Feedback that was left ( good work Ebay) - Sellers may also ask buyers to change the DSR star rating ( how does a seller know what star rating the buyer left ? I emailed this question to Ebay and no answer ) The DSR does not explain to a buyer 1. how it is used by Ebay to determine sellers Ebay Fees 2. seller may be suspended by Ebay or removed.If all buyers leave 4 (four) stars or less that seller is history - gone - no longer allowed to sell - Why not let the buyer understand the ramifications and harm done to buyer ?

Paid item, Item not shipped after 2months and Seller threatens Buyer
Ok I have never had this happened before maybe some of you seasoned buyers and sellers can help me out here. I bought an item nearly two months ago promised fast shipping. When I bought it I paid shipping and after about 2 weeks contacted the seller. I simply asked if item were shipped. They said no but I can download it to you. (flag) I didn't pay to download it. I don't want unwanted material on my pc. I wanted the paper guide I paid for. They said no problem it will arrive in the slow mail then. After a month and a half later and no response from contacting this seller numerous times, I had seen they had 11 neg feedback in a month and I cannot view it because it is private. Whoa it wasn't there before, so obliviously others are having the same problem. I tried to contact them again and still no luck. (I understand that things can come up and delay, I have had this happen before but not to this extent and those it has happened with always had the curiosity to keep me posted. I have never left negative feedback for anyone this was my first time. Well let me tell you the negative feedback got this sellers attention and they sent me a letter stating they will not send me my product. (well this just let me know they still haven't sent it) They will not refund my amount and followed this up by saying we are reporting you as an unpaid item so that you have an unpaid strike against you. This transaction went through paypal and has been completed. Can people do something this vicious? Does it count as a strike. I take pride in my sales on ebay and I take pride in bidding. I wouldn't want someone that is just being vindictive to be able to ruin my hard earned reputation.

Well I managed a neg today. It appears I've ruined someones Christmas over $2.99. No contact from this clown at all. The problem I'm having I've sent over 1000 items and some still are'nt there after 15 days. I've sent them all and on time I don't mess around. We've had some bad weather and it's Christmas time. On the other hand some made it way faster than they should've. I understand the buyers are getting mad I would to but they don't take any of this into account I guess. So I'll have to take some negs for the post office. I hope the rest of you didn't have to go through this. Just wondering if this has affect any others like this. I was contacted by a buyer a few minutes ago about one of my auctions. I reviewed his feedback and his feedback left for others. I said to myself WO HA !! I dont want this guy as a customer. He has a very low feedback rating and the guy has left negative feedback for almost all his purchases. Seemed to me like he is a habitual negative feedback poster. Someone who is NEVER satisfied and doesnt read the terms of the auction. He sent me this nasty e-mail after I told him what I had done. It states: Sherman, Well that was a bit of bad news. Maybe your selling crap like the ones I left negative feeback for those that did, which is why your worried. Maybe you were only capable of reading the negative feedback and you should have spent MUCH more time on the positive. Excuse the heck out of me for expecting some honesty from Ebay Sellers. Its good to know that your probably selling crap and advertising it as *UnTested* when you are fully aware that its broken, maybe you shoudl consider putting that crap in the trash and not screw over potential customers. I will have to ensure I post this email thread on my forum so everyone knows your probably selling crap and don't want any negative feedback when you try to screw someone over. Better yet, maybe you should go work on Wall Street whewre they appear to get away with your current business model. NOW I have SURELY made up my mind I dont want to sell to this guy. Something 15 years of service in the army has taught me (2 years of that in combat) is INTEGRITY. So tell me folks. How you you changed your location that appears on your auctions?
I like the way some ebayers get creative and instead of their city and state for their location, they instaed post things like DIRTY SOUTH, MIDWEST, D-TOWN, etc... Where do you go in your account information to make the change but at the same time, make sure that an actuual mailing address appears when it's time for a buyer to pay for an item.? Thanks for any help.

New eBay Look is BS
I am not happy with the new eBay look. Still I want to thank you eBay for letting me change the header colors. Since I can no longer make out a lot of the small print text in the new drop down boxes these pretty colors will take our minds of this fact. Also received an e-mail today from a past customer. Received the following: Hello, I was going to bid on this, but since ebay just screwed up the MyEbay page so badly, I'm just going through my watchlist and deleting everything I was thinking of bidding on. Voting with my wallet as it were. Sorry you sellers have to bear the brunt of ebays stupidity. This is a good member with high feedback rating. A good customer and they may be again but right now buyer's with cash are not putting up with any BS and I don't blame them. eBay is not likly to go back to the older and better screen layout but we should all let them know what we think. This new format SUCKS!! The bidding would not load for me to put in a final bid on an item. You people have done everything to piss off the buyers and sellers. All the changes are IGNORANT. If its not broken you dont fix it. Ebay was great up till the last year or so. I have bought over $100,000 in items on ebay in the last year and will buy very little if any now. I will contact all the sellers i have bought from and let them know i will no longer buy from them. Ebay has forgotten who has made them who they are today.

What is the dumbest thing you or your spouse did?
Okay, I will start. SOme of you had seen my post that I am in a huge de-cluttering mode ~ If I haven't used it, worn it, or even looked at it in a year ~ it's out either via Thrift Store, Garage Sale, or Ebay. Well, my ebay sales have been rather successful. So one of the things I decided to do is to treat my DH and I to a brand new luxurious mattress. The new mattress was to be delivered on Monday morning. So, on Sunday my husband asked me what he should do with the "old bed". I said," pitch it, garbage collection is tomorrow morning. No need to have it lying around for a week". That night we slept in the guest room. As scheduled, the mattress was delivered early Monday morning. I stayed home from work that day, and thought I would get our room in order. For the life of me, I could not find our headboard. Where could my Dh have stashed the king size headboard. After looking everywhere, including the detached garage, for over a half an hour, I gave in and called my DH. HE THREW IT OUT!!!!! Can you imagine? We have a beautiful bedroom set with matching armour, dresser, high boy, mirror, and nightstands. It was not cheap! Why the heck would he have thrown out the headboard? Silly me, I asked him that question. He said "When I asked what I should do with the old bed, you said to throw it out. That is what I did !". I thought he meant the mattress which is what I would imagine anyone else would think. Bedroom set is now discontinued, new headboard is not available and Mfr. can not suggest any other set that compliments it! Isn't life grand? Okay, top that!!!!

Hi everyone, I've been trying to find some building graphics for my home page for my retail stores. I was told once that you can create buildings using that SIMS game. Does anyone know anything about that? I know what I want, its in my head ... but have no idea who to turn it into a actual graphic with detail. Tried a few websites, but they want to sell you sets, with buttons and junk that I don't need and can't afford, when all I need is a few buildings. I am severly distressed by eBay and Paypal. After my ranting and ravings of being victimized...common sense has settled in. What is most important to their business? Well, of course the buyer is! There will always be sellers peddling something and yes, they pay all the fees, etc., which pays the salarys, electric bills, on and on, for eBay and Paypal. But...without the buyers, none will survive, just like our drowning economy. So, I guess it's time to accept and move on. Whineing and crying will hit deaf ears. They have a business to run and millions of people to deal with both selling and buying on a daily basis. Concerns about Ebay going out of business...I don't think so! Individual sellers might, if they don't conduct their business professionally and honestly, but Paypal and eBay will survive unless all the buyers disappear. Customer satisfaction!!! Key to good business, so get real and move on. Just my opinion.

I will shortly be blessed with more negatives and lower star ratings. The weather here is to the point everything has been shut down, the postal service is not delivering nor is UPS or Fed-Ex. Everything is solid ice with a lot of the state with no power. Yet these people are going to expect three day delivery as per usual. There will be E-Bay sellers not selling anymore because of their ratings.

A Remedy for Slow
I was frustrated like many others with the slow speed plus delayed and jumpy response on the new my eBay page. I decided to try the suggestion that has appeared on a number of the discussion boards to solve the problem. If you are using Internet Explorer as your browser, that is probably the problem. The new beta system does not seem to work well with Internet Explorer. Switch to Foxfire and you will find that your problems should be solved. As a bonus, I found that issues that I had with Turbo Lister were also fixed and the overall speed of both of the PCs were improved on sites other than eBay. I have just average computer skills and found the switch quick and easy. It will take about 5-10 minutes to do a Google search to find free Foxfire software and to download it. Very easy and no need to delete Internet Explorer or whatever browser you are currently using. eBay should have been well aware of this problem if they had properly tested the new system and then should have notified sellers and buyers that a switch to Foxfire or some other server might be necessary......totally inexcusable on their part for creating such a mess. Try Foxfire and save yourself from future frustration. Good luck!!

You can do it by setting you homepage to another country .Exemple : Ebay Uk ,France ,Canada ,Australia and so on .Just choose one that you will understand the language .Everthing will be as it was before ebay's new format went into effect .All your messages will be there,your favorite sellers,buyers,the way you had your summary organized,everthing will be as it was . I cannot believe how this site has been over run with corporate policy changes that make it next to impossible to sell anything without having to use PayPal or other eBay "shill" companies. THIS MUST CHANGE! How low does eBay's stock price and corporate earnings have to fall before the corporate bureaucrats that run this place realize that they have turned a site that was once fun to do business with into an environment that just isn't worth the trouble anymore? Everytime I get on for months now I had to opt out of some crazy idea someone had. But now, I appear to be stuck with this new MyEbay page. How can I assume anything other than Ebay is tired of me selling with them and wants me to leave? If this is the case, then why don't they just tell me to go, rather than trying to make me miserable with the stupid changes. Am I not Ebay's customer? Is the customer not supposed to be happy? It seems to me as far as Ebay is concerned, it's their way or the highway. Did they just find some group of inexperienced programmers and said see what you can do to screw Ebay up? Cause these improvements are not an improvement. So another week has arrived and I still have no items listed. I feel I should not have to re-learn years of perfection. Hi Y'all, I think this is absolutely ridiculous. I sold a website business and kept every promise to the buyer. I transferred everything as usually, setup the website for them, and even went the extra step of producing coaching videos to help. Check this out, they thought I was TOO NICE!!! And because I refunded all their money and kept my promise they claimed I was a fraud!!!??? WTF is eBay coming to. I refunded this guy's money and helped him out, and he thinks I'm scamming him? How is that even possible? Most ridiculous sad thing that has ever happened. I was seriously in a car accident recently and my car was totaled. I have been in bad shape, I am not okay. I took a little while to get back to him. But I had already given him his product!!! I had already setup his website!!! This buyer is the most ungrateful son of ----- that I have ever encountered. I really don't know what to say. I even apologize via video to the guy. He told me to send him $10,000!!!??? I'm not sure if the negative feedback was before the ridiculous request or after. The problem is he never threatened me with Feedback Extortion, he just was a punk. What can I do? I had 100% feedback before, now I'm at 95.8% !!! "Hokay" How many "ebay sucks" threads do we really need?, its pretty much proven ebay does not read these boards or if they do they place no weight in them. I've gotten surveys too "let us know about your ebay experience," several times I merely point them to these boards. How much better feedback can a corporation ask for then the folks in the trenches explaining profit limiting impediments to business in near real time? Wait for it ... wait for the troll comments... Perhaps this hate fest just encourages "piling on". Encouraging sellers to leave. I have been lucky enough to have had no real paypal issues, but reading the worst on here scares me. This is what we are given by the "propellor heads" How do we make it work for us sellers? Help! My Ebay page type has run amuck!
If anyone has a solution I would appreciate it. When I open My eBay, the top of the page is all overlapped with skewed lines of type repeated over each other and covering up the top couple watched items. It looks as though a printer jammed and just kept printed lines of type over lines of type over and over again but the lines are skewed and going off at different angles. Once I get down to around the third watched item (my watches are on top of the list) it clears up and I can click on them and open them up. Above that, it won't let me do anything. Help!

Is ebay having financial troubles???
I am wondering if the reason ebay is making bonehead decisions like changing the My eBay summary page because they are having serious money problems like just about every other company these days. Many companies grab at straws in the end, making just these kinds of mistakes. It is obvious by the posts, that users are more than unhappy with the new format. I wrote in just like everyone else yet customer service never even bothered to acknowledge my email. Could it be because eBay laid-off the majority of the customer service staff? It seems appearant no one at eBay cares about customer satisfaction at this point and that is what seems to point to money trouble.

What is the normal E-Bay community protocol ...
when a seller puts a line in the fine print of an item description that says "payment is expected in 5 days", gets paid in 6 days (over the long Good Friday - Easter holiday period) and then refunds the payment and tells the buyer that he has sold the item to someone else? Is it just me, or is this an egregeous breach of normal buyer-seller etiquite. I actually give buyers 10 days myself. When, I checked with E-bay, they tell me that the E-Bay policy is that a buyer has 7 days to pay before the seller can file a dispute over non-payment ... but they also say that they have no real written policy on payment timelines. So, I have never posted a query on a discussion board ... so I will give this a try. I would like to read a few comments from buyers, sellers, and other interested parties before I leave feedback for this individual.

Is Worldwide Search Gone from USA?
I have tried again, and cannot complete a search Worldwide from the USA! I can name every city in the USA, and within five miles, for less than $10, and ask the seller's blood type and mother's maiden name, and...........on and on, but cannot do a simple WORLDWIDE search. What are the chances of finding some unique part for a motorcycle (for instance) that way? How stupid that I must search from an eBay site in another country to search Worldwide. I guess eBay will ruin that soon. This is the trouble with creating lists with boxes; the more boxes you add the more can be left out---so that a searcher misses something that might have been found with sheer luck! Now the chances of finding something serendipitously is gone. Did they hire programmers from Microsoft to provide more redundant features that are useless? I had just become a seller this year, but doubt I will ever list anything here again unless this is changed. The NEW EBAY is inane. MikeV850

Sorry to vent on you guys! I'm sure there are other people going through what I am. My dad has Altzheimer's and drives, but he forgot how to get out of his own driveway. My mom can't drive at all, so not an option. Yesterday my dad took my 17 year old daughter to Frisch's. He plowed through a gaurdrail into a ditch over Tiffany asking what to do with his toothpicks. My senile dad thinks it's her fault. I have tried so many times talking to my mom about his driving being dangerous. She insist he just needs to be guided with where to turn. I get nowhere. It's one of those things that older people don't deal with well, loss of their ability to live and do as they wish. My mom calls me in tears, completely shocked when the police gave them a ride home. She just couldn't believe the van was totaled. I wasn't surprised at all and said so. She refuses to listen! My parents want to buy another new van. Are you serious!! I thought once my dad wrecked the van this driving issue would be solved. I think my mom is being completely self centered. My dad is not competent to make any decision about driving, but she is. I went to the impound lot after hearing about this. A sideswipe I can understand. What I find completely unacceptable is this is a complete front end smash. I e-mailed her the pictures. They still want a new van!! The first story was 'hit a fence'. My daughter is calmer today and said it wasn't a fence, it's a smashed gaurdrail on an expressway entrance that landed them in a ditch. I don't have pictures of the gaurdrail yet to get it through her head that this shouldn't happen. Any advice on dealing with your stubbor elderly parents?

eBay Makes Images the Size THEY Want
I just noticed. eBay (bless their hearts) has seen fit to decide the maximum size to display your image in an auction. I size my images to cover about 3/4ths of a monitor at 1024x728 resolution. Good size to see an item well, and still not have to scroll. AND I host my own images so that it doesn't impact much on eBay's storage. But the image they display comes up perhaps 1/3rd of what I intended. But who am I to complain. They obviously know better than I. There are 10 types of people: those that understand binary, and those that don't.

Until recently, I have felt safe and comfortable buying on ebay. Sadly, dishonest sellers are finding devious ways to steal thereby fouling the integrity of ebay. I recently purchased items from 2 different power sellers, paid immediately for PRIORITY shipping (There was no other shipping choice, by the way.), and received the items almost 2 weeks later by cheaper shipping methods. So, the sellers each did not honor their listed mode of shipping, thus pocketing the difference. That is stealing. Color it any way you want. It's still stealing. Also, neither seller responded to multiple emails to resolve the issues. To add insult to injury, PAYPAL did not protect me from the thefts when I filed complaints. . Both sellers received negative feedback - the first I've ever felt compelled to leave.(I have always paid immediately afterward and have excellent feedback.) And, since I have found that sellers can actually STEAL from their buyers who are paying in good faith for the shipping methods they are charged for, I urge all buyers to BEWARE and use caution. But, more importantly, fight this thievery(because that is exactly what it is) with all you have available to you. Don't be afraid to give bad feedback, not just neutral feedback if this happens. Ignoring this (small?)problem sends a clear message to dishonest sellers that they can continue to steal (yes, steal!) from buyers with no fear of retribution or punishment. I wish all buyers and sellers continued success on ebay!

Unpaid item strikes removed by ebay??
Attention sellers FYI - Did you know that ebay is no longer giving out unpaid item strikes to nonpaying buyers!! I complained about it to customer support and the emailed me back that they removed the strike because it was basically (in a lengthy email ) in their best intrest I looked back over the ones filed over the last month or so and sure enough they still had 100% feedback!! Ebay now puts you thru all the waiting and arguing in the resolution center with your item tied up for all that time to get told we need to remove the strike If you do not believe me and you have recent closed seller issues go look you will see a link where ebay wants you to remove the strike that they did not put against them anyway I sure wish ebay would now remove my negative feedbacks left by con artists who wanted freebies but that will never happen because I am the evil seller as we all are being labeled This new practice is totally unfair to the seller and that buyer that actually earned that 100% feedback!! I do forsee a great increase in nonpaying buyers in the future just thought other sellers should know that these buyers with 100% feedback may not be as they appear dixie969

Has this happened to you? This morning I logged in to Ebay and, as usual, clicked on "Keep me logged in for 1 day". After shopping a bit I went to check my PayPal acct. Going directly back to Ebay I was greeted with: "SIGN IN". I signed in yet again, clicked and up came: "YOU HAVE SIGNED OUT". Instead of getting angry as I usually do when these Ebay monkey-shines happen I began laughing uproariously. The absurd thought occurred to me that Ebay is exactly like a mentally-challenged house guest whom you must put up with for one reason or another. They annoy and irritate you, and when they are told to do something they either don't do it or do it wrong. And just when you think you have their quirks figured out, they up and change personalities on you. So now each day when you run into "the idiocy of Ebay" just remember that brain-damaged house guest and LAUGH LIKE H*LL!

I purchased an Oasis Spa in mid October 2008, and as of yet I have not received my spa. Not their spa, my spa, I paid in full for the spa. It was the "Colossus" model as advertised here on Ebay. I phoned the number that is provided and paid for the spa in full that day. This is the message I received for my money: Thank you for your order. Your payment has been processed. Please look over the invoice to insure accuracy, then sign and fax back to the number on the form. Once we receive the form we will process your order right away. If you have any questions please give us a call at 866-570-1140. Thanks. The contract read that I was to receive the spa in a period of 6 to 9 weeks. I asked questions during that time that appeared to raise the ire of who I was told was the owner operator of the company Frank Doyle. I was told that I could not know the locations of the "Brick and Mortar" distribution shops because they charged more money for the same spa that I have purchased, even though I have already paid in full for my spa. It has been 4 months now and I still do not have my spa. I send Emails that are answered at Mr. Doyle's leisure, and usually with an accusatory tone. I have no right to be asking anything, which is contrary to the come on greeting. I guess this is because I am not liked, I did not win the popularity contest. If the email's are answered at all. I leave telephone messages with my contact number at the beginning of the message and at the end of the message because there is nobody to answer the phone. These messages are not only rarely returned but when I notify Mr, Doyle, I receive accusations that I am not leaving messages. Here is Mr. Doyle's reply to an Email I sent him telling him that nobody answers the phone's.: Date: Sat, 7 Feb 2009 08:11:19 -0800 From: spasandstuff@yahoo.com Subject: Re: Spa shipment To: mrlugubrious@hotmail.com Calling is not useless! Calling and not leaving a message, is however ineffective! I am on the phone with customers 70-80% of the time. I was out several days last week for a funeral and was playing some catch up this week. In order to keep costs down we do rely heavily on email responses to simple questions like when a spa will be delivered. If we staffed to the point that all calls were answered on the first ring and all questions were answered on the phone we would not be able to offer the high value we do today. Your spa will be available for pick up next week we will let you know what day as soon as we know. Thanks. Look at the date. This is ten (10) days later, and several unanswered phone calls placed as well as Emails to Mr. Doyle. Mr. Doyle is such a busy man, and his company is doing so well he can't even have somebody answer the phones. After all that would raise the price of the spa would it not? This is Mr. Doyle's idea of customer care. Their ship dates slip, and it is on me, not them, to look for the reason why. I irritate Mr. Doyle because I want customer care and my paid for purchase. I am no longer empathetic for Mr. Dolye's Oasis Spa's excuses of why they are not performing as advertised. Lay off's in China etc. There has never been any mention of anything Mr. Doyle could do to make up for the lack of performance in the contract other than in the beginning he would cancel the order and only charge several hundreds of dollars for their inconvenience. There is no warehouse. These guys collect your money up front and then have the product made and sent by very slow boat from China. While the customer waits. Think about this before you make any purchases. I do not recommend this aggravation to anybody who is not prepared to go along with this companies lais de' faire way of doing business AFTER they have collected payment. I want my product.

These forums/discussion boards are SO CUT! I'm sick of it and I really miss the days when eBay sellers could actually "express themselves" on these boards. Now everything is so grossly edited and countless posts removed constantly....we no longer have any voice; and it's pointless to even waste time on any of the forums.

Within 24 hours of listing a vintage dress, it was bought. I ironed it and sent it as photographed in bubble wrap to the buyer. I have over 2000 feedback, 100 percent positive. I received this e-mail from the buyer: Thank you so much for the very prompt shipping and proper packaging. I appreciate it very much. I love the dress, it is so beautiful and different. However, there are so me flaws which were not mentioned in the description and I honestly think that you didn't see them or else they would have been mentioned. There several holes/cuts in the fabric. I think someone (not you) may have tried to cut out the patterns in the fabric. There are holes large enough for 2 fingers to fit through. Sorry that I am responding so late, but I had to wait for my grandaughter to come from college to take the photos. She has a digital camera and she knows how to upload the photos etc. I don't have a clue. We've counted 82 cuts and holes so far and then we stopped counting. I've attached and sent very large photos to your email I replied to this shocking email that the dress was sent intact. I was a victim and perhaps the buyer was one too. They filed a "not as described" claim with PayPal. I offered to send the next email and the photos which I did not open. PayPal didn't need the info and decided in two days that I had to pay the buyer for these damages. I will send this to PayPal: Dear PayPal, I am very sad about this and will probably discuss it at an eBay forum. For you to think that I would ship an item, given my eBay history, as damaged as is described here is libel. I am truly disappointed in you and suspect malfeasance. I have little trust in you now. I will not open the package shipped. It should not be delivered. The situation is too sick and I would consider it dangerous to open it. I will not bring it into the door and will mark it RETURN TO SENDER or throw it in the dumpster immediately. You have libeled me without any proof. The e-mails of the buyer are very confused. She doesn't even accuse me at first. I must inform other eBayers that you are capable of doing this. A buyer can damage an item and they can receive a refund, sending a useless item back to the seller. Fortunately, this didn't involve much money. There is nothing on my eBay record that would indicate my doing such an act. Your determination is not legal as you know.

Fake - Counterfeit - Pioneer HDJ 1000 Headphones
I cant believe how many fake HDJ 1000 headphones are on ebay. If I type in "pioneer hdj 1000" every item listed except possibly 1 item looks like a fake. I'm sure some people listing the item are unaware but its not rocket science to spot the fakes especially if you take a look at pioneers forum on fakes : http://forums.pioneerdj.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/8091012904/m/8731018014 Surely ebay should be able to ask sellers a few simple counterfeit questions e.g what colour are the hinges? Are they Fake? If buying something I know the buyer should take some responsibility and ask necessary questions but it would be made even easier if ebay who is making money from all of these fakes made it harder for sellers to list the fakes in the first place. I could possibly understand 1 or 2 fakes but not 90% of the listings.

I am so frustrated
First~I sold a brand new coach pocketbook I waited 4 days never received the payment!! I sent an email to this person. They emailed me back saying they were not able to make payment. But yet they bid on the item at last second. Then I sold another pocketbook. The winner sent me a message that I needed to send it out the next day. I did! Priority! She got it in 2 days from Connecticut to Florida!!! She then sends me a message that the bag smells like cigarette smoke. No one smokes in my home!!!! I do have a wood stove!!! Get this she wants to keep the pocketbook but wants me to refund half the money!! I told her to send the pocktbook back and I will refund all her money minus the shipping!!! I guess my 100% feedback is out the window!!! I could send her the $25.00 back and let her keep the damn pocketbook. But I won't!! Just to make a point. I just cannot believe it even if it did smell like cigarette smoke and this is her complaint why does she want to keep it???? I am done with ebay I do it for fun. The 100% feedback is important to me. But there are people that ruin it!!

So Ive won alot of items lately and I get them fine but the sellers wont leave me feedback unless I do it first. As a seller they are supposed to leave me feedback based on whether or not I pay on time and in the way their auction states (such as form of payment), which technically should be left by them soon as they get my payment. Now none of them will respond to me until I leave feedback first all because they are afraid Ill leave them a negative and they cant do anything but give me a positive or none at all. Ebay you need to go back to the old system, this way is totally unfair to both parties, especially the seller since now if the buyer goes bad they cant do anything to warn them to others. So what if the buyer can leave honest feedback, now the seller cant leave honest feedback unless its positive feedback.

Ever bought one of those ebay gift cards? I buy em when ever i shop here. I recently bought one and more of those, also recently bought something on ebay, so i go use it. "It says Your coupon isn't ready for use just yet. Please give us a little more time. We'll have it ready soon." after i just used the other ones! What the heck!? How does that work i even bought em at all at the same time! And it was my last one till i could complete the order! How do i expect now to buy these cards from paypal and expect for them to not work or be able to be used on the spot? How? So now pay pal has me lookin over my shoulder because of this! Ebay doesn't wait nether should I!

Something wrong with eBay's phone number tonight?
I tried calling eBay tonight twice, each time I was told to hold on while I was transferred. One time I held 5 minutes and the other time 7 minutes. Anyone know if there is a problem with eBay tonight? They are supposed to answer till 10 pm Pacific time. Would love to know.

eBay Contest @ Work! I Need Help!
Hey all, So I have this eBay contest at work and I need to find as many eBay, PayPal, and Skype refrences in media, which includes TV, newspapers, movies, and radio. What would be the best way to go about this? Does anyone have any tips? Sites? Also, your personal knowledge would be greatly appreciated. What's happened to Square Trade Warranty?
I've been unable to access the website for Square Trade Warranty, and I have a issue with a GPS that I bought through eBay, and warrantied through Sq.Trade. I don't know much about chat rooms or blog sites, and this seemed to be someplace to start trying to find out about Sq. Trade. When I try to click on the website www.squaretrade.com, all I get is a blank screen...repeatedly! I've tried to go through all of their "links", with the same results. Since I have purchased a couple of warranties from them for different items, I'm wondering if I've been had.

The new format is for IDIOTS. I buy and sometimes sell items relating to silent film. I recently "watched" a lobby card for a film called SHORT SKIRTS made in 1918 starring a long forgotten actress named Gladys Walton. Now eBay is cluttering up my viewing page with lobby cards with SHORT in the title like SHORT CIRCUIT or SHORT CUT TO HELL which of course have NOTHING to do with anything I could ever be interested in , they also clutter it up with utterly unrelated items involving people named Gladys or Walton. What MORON thought this up. Do to this clutter I will no longer "watch" ANY item and will bid a lot less often. These people are CLUELESS about unusual and rare items especially film or antiques. They think everything is some piece of electronics or book I could find 1000 other places. Why would I buy ANYTHING on eBay if I could get the same thing from Amazon, Target or a "safe" site for NEW products given how much crap I have to put up with here. It used to be such a nice place to meet , buy and sell stuff with people of similar interests but most buyers and sellers I know have fled including the largest film poster dealer in the country who set up his own successful site after eBay screwed him one too many times. There is still a small group of like minded collectors so I can't say I won't buy or sell anything on eBay , just that I won't ever watch anything and will do my best to deal with other sites that cater to people who actually like to interact with other buyers and sellers for special items

Hi, I would value your opinion...so I thought I'd duck in here and ask as I am still up...all night as it turns out ...its 6:21 am here and I just really want to know cause I'm making decisions to stay or go... paypal over-road (gee is that a word) my choice of payment today after my accounts were under attack for the first time over the last couple weeks and were not actually breached just threatened but enough to halt paypal payments to sellers and to force me to unfortunately talk to paypal alot. To protect myself I carefully chose to use my credit card in paypal to pay and not my bank account though both in good standing. Another phone number other than my own had appeared in my profile and evidently not a problem in trust and safety to paypal and really of concern only to me as they pointed out a but it was the one used by paypal used to verify or deny my change of password. I was upset and scared. I decided to do my usual multiple purchase with over 5 auctions with my credit card in good standing instead of my bank account today and paypal overroad it and took it out of the bank account instead even though I intentionally chose the alternative funding options and intentionally chose from credit card or e check or bank account the credit card option and my creditcard in good standing and the usual statement of really do you want to and chose yes the card was also intentionally chosen on 3 seperate multiple purchases. On each Paypal kicked out the credit card and chose the bank account against my wishes and then 2 paypal people told me differing answers one said it kicked out the credit card because my purchases were over 5 and multiple automaically and without warning choses over my wishes the bank account and the other person said because I must have been mistaken and never chose the credit card options even though I have last year and the year before chosen hundreds of times successful credit card via paypal multiple purchases a that of course only the customer, buyer is wrong and my little finger never intentionally chose those, gee they make it difficult 3 screen choices and so sorry too bad already done money taken you never chose and that paypal never makes mistakes. So what IS the answer and is there a multiple purchase rule???? In 2007 when I made multiple purchases and did too many multiples thru paypal with the credit card it simply did not go thru and you were left to figure it out but what is the truth??? Thanks for any truthful answers because I know someone actually knows out there and because paypal has so many differing answers you get the feeling they make it up as they go along with the attitude the buyer is always at fault and paypal is always right. I really just want to know the truth and the rules and you can tell this really bothers me because I have been up way too long...hope you write
