OPPOSE THE $4 CAP ON SHIPPING MEDIA!!! DOWN WITH THESE NEVER ENDING FEES!!!

TO: myebaybeta@ebay.com SUBJECT: YOU SHOULD RECONSIDER!! A Message for You. One to be read--time was in this, please take a look. DATE: 10.09.2008 BODY: ----------------------------------------------------- PLEASE READ THIS MSG AND AT THE VERY LEAST ATTEMPT TO FOWARD IT TO THE NEXT PERSON IN A HIGHER POSITION SO SOMETHING CAN BE DONE HERE. My problem, and not just mine alone, is a constant struggle as a business person... to always roll the dice in hopes to find the best opportunities. I believe I speak on behalf of the VINTAGE AND NEW SCHOOL VIDEO GAME businesses on E-BAY about this month's coming crisis for us media sellers. My name is John Weed. I just started my Vintage business on e-bay around a month ago... things were just starting to weave into a tapestry until recently. Suddenly, unseen from behind the curtain, I noticed you guys are making a change in a policy. POLICY CHANGE IS GOOD... It can lead to company economic growth and better opportunities. It's the best way to hold a tight grip on income and losses. Policy change can also spell disaster for some... I believe that in some cases when a policy is invoked, one must change other parts of the system to keep a balance to the machine. Otherwise unfair circumstances can appear for either side, while the opposing side would surely clearly benefit. The design of these systems should invoke some real serious conversation; not only with those in the company, but with the most important person(s) of all, the customers! Who else can provide such a direct statement, easy enough to translate into business math? However, if your change is going to upset a balance which you've created, and it could ultimately lead in a large decline of the amount of income sales in the companies growing underneath you that you've helped start, would you not be interested to hear the voice of the public's opinion before deciding to give in to your own company's economic guidelines? Who is making these decisions? I believe your making a mistake... Your company has recently decided that there will be a limit on the shipping cost for video games. The price change will take place this October. The maximum price for shipping that is allowed to be charged is limited to $4. A limit... on shipping? And it's limited to ONLY $4 for the public? Why is there this limit? Even if E-bay makes the .15 cents on the .01 cent listing fee, and makes out with 8.25% on the FINAL sales price, This amount off that many users is still not sufficient enough for the company's cost-effectiveness to keep moving forward? I do sincerely apologize about these feirce factmatics, but some people's lives are at stake here. I run a few businesses of my own, on and offline... I know what people want. But what you are asking from the public is e-market tyranny! Please, listen to what I have to say. I believe that this is stealing the sale... In certain shipment circumstances, we're paying e-bay EXTRA to move our items. We are limited to $4 to ship. Here are some more "factmatics" for you... The cost of shipping for a small lot of eight NES (weighs 1.8lbs) sells for about $20. Shipped by USPS, via PARCEL LARGE PACKAGE, the cost comes to $17.59! The SMALLEST package/envelope option STILL costs over what we're allowed to ask for at $5.53!! That means I am paying $1.53 EXTRA to ebay to cover expensive shipping and paypal costs. To the best of my knowledge, the lowest price you can get from Paypal is $4.73 (the best I've ever seen online) for a shipping label. It is actually a LOT more profitable to sell locally! This is going to actually RAISE the price of the market with all of these games, forcing the public to not even be interested in the prices the sellers are asking. They may find them elsewhere online or somewhere locally that is cheaper. I am sure I am not the only one that is going to suffer the fate of a new business from this absurd policy change. "I have to admit, these games are really old. People don't want to pay much for them because you can find them online, legally, for free... Yes, some of them are collector's items but some others don't really spark an interest to the general public.... Some of these games sell for such low prices [on e-bay] that I think I am just better off to just sell them around town locally. If there is a limit placed on shipping, then I am forced to quit my online trading with e-bay--just so I can continue my own business rather than so strongly support another." - a local vintage seller from Jamestown, NY On the darkside for the sellers, if you were to keep these new policies... you should consider the price of USPS shipping and paypal fees. E-bay should make good, solid relations with Paypal and USPS to have media shipped at lower costs. This way, the sellers aren't losing out on so much profit. A balance should be made if you insist on keeping this dreadful policy. Because not only my job and John Smith's job depends on it, yours may as well. I appreciate your patience and my deepest gratitude if you've read this far. Please don't fire me/us. Thank you for listening to my story. I hope the facts were enough to convince someone in the midst of all of this e-chaos. Thanks again... sincerely. A Concerned Seller, John Weed P.S. I am really biting my lip here. This is something that I've wanted to do my whole life! Just now finding it and it slips from my fingertips, alas, the forces of the universe have once again provided another antagonistic force for the human race to see.
