Stroking the MK I or W engine-348-409

Most rodders are not aware that new life can be given to the old 348 engines. Most of my friendsjunked them when the 396 came out not realizing that they could be upgraded with the new MKIV cranks. The 348 has the same con rod as the 396 and the same bore spacing there fore the 396 cranks will fit in the W block. The 396 snout has to be turned down to the W engine specs and same for the oil seal diameter.Add a set of stroker pistons you now have a 400 cu. in. engine that allows you to keep all the pieces previously been purchased for the 348 engine in your rod.Utilizing a 454 crank gives you a 427 Engine!!!!
The 409 has a shorter con rod but that can be changed for the 6.135 rod and with a 454 crank you get a healthy 488 cu in W engine!!! Both of these W engines can use the 7/16 Dimple rod for superior strength.
