Pick a Color:
Assign each child or family member a color, this color will be his or her color. This saves disagreements on who belongs to what item and helps you organize each child. Buy towels, wash clothes, laundry hampers, laundry baskets, multiple toys, hair brushes, toothbrushes and anything else you can think of or need to identify by child or family member in your household.

Fabric paint in their color can be purchased at any craft store and most department stores. Place a small dot on socks, cups, toys etc. to help identify the item when you cannot purchase the item in their color. This is a great help during laundry when you need to sort socks, undergarments or multiples of outfits by child.

Organizing Laundry:
Buy small safety pins to pin socks together at toes before doing laundry. This makes sorting socks easier. Adding a dot of fabric paint on the toes of the sock will also help you sort with more ease.
Attach a mesh lingerie bag with a clothespin onto the inside of a hamper. Train your children or other family members to put socks inside the bag and then they will not get lost. The item will also be pre sorted. You can purchase the mesh laundry bag in their color or put a dot of fabric paint on the mesh bag to identify it by family member. Purchasing the laundry hamper or basket in their color can help you pre-sort and organize their clothing in the laundry. The clothing is already pre-sorted by family member and each child if old enough they can take their basket back to their room and put the clothing away. This will save you a great amount of time.
Dressers can be labeled or a picture can be put up on the outside of the dresser to help teach younger children where each item will go when putting back the clothing. The labels or pictures can be removed once the child learns where each item belongs. Leave a step stool in their room so they can to reach into drawers.

Organizing the Closet:
Label hangers or color code by the day of the week and put together outfits for each day. This will help children learn what gebinations of clothing colors go together and younger children can start to learn how to dress themselves.
Install short closet rods so children can reach the clothing. This way they can start to put their clothing away and also find it easily to dress themselves.
An over the door hanging gepartment shoe holder can be purchased very inexpensively at any department store. It then can be used in theyre room, hung over a door to organize their outfits. An outfit can be placed in each gepartment. Then the children can simply pick a gepartment and can start to learn how to dress themselves. You can also have them choose the outfits with you, that will go into the gepartments so that they learn how to coordinate colors to make outfits. As they start to grow and learn they can organize their own outfits and put them away with ease.

Organizing Shoes and Backpacks:
Have a spot or a hook for each backpack. That way they can find it in the morning. Anything that needs to be added can easily be added to the backpack so nothing is forgotten.
Pick one place to leave shoes. In the morning children do not have to look for their shoes. A shoe rack can be used or they can be left by the front door.
