PMC Stovetop Firing
Items Needed:
Gas Stovetop
6x6 inche stainless steel mesh screen
Safety Glasses
Tweezers
Timer
Dry PMC3 item
Place the stainless-steel mesh screen on thop of the burner. Make sure it lies flat and is stable. Dim lights slightly and you may want to use safety glasses.
1.) Turn on the stove to its highest flame and let the screen heat up. The screen will turn red at its hottest areas. Make a visual note of where that area is. This is where you will want to place your PMC item. Turn off stove and allow to return to normal color.
2.) Use tweezers to place your unfired PMC on the area that glowed the hottest. Next turn on the flame to its highest setting.
3.)Watch closely as the PMC begins to burn and smoke a little. After the binders burn off the PMC will begin to glow. Adjust heat level if needed until PMC reaches the proper glow. It is important to look for it to reach a coral color glow. Once it has reached this color, hold the heat level for five minutes. Use a timer to time for 5 minutes. If items begins to look shiny or look like it is beginning to sweat, ajust heat slightly lower. This is the sign that the PMC will melt soon
4.) After you have gepleted the firing, turn off the heat and and leave PMC on burner for at least 15 minutes or until cooled. You may quench it in water to speed up the process.
5.) Your firing is now geplete and your fine silver item is ready for finishing.
